Introduction to Leadership & Management Programme
The Introduction to Leadership & Management programme is well suited to aspiring leaders, junior or first time managers. The programme aim is to provide participants with an introduction to the core skills and behaviours that are required for effective leadership and management. This includes an insight into how these may relate to their own individual behavioural preferences.
Learning Outcomes
Day One:
Describe your own individual behavioural preferences
Discuss what impact these may have on others around you
Identify ways in which your preferences may be evident in your communication with others
Explain how you may adapt your approach to build relationships and effectively communicate
Reflect on how your preferences may influence your behaviours in a leadership role
Day Two:
Reflect on the role of communication in managing and leading a team
Create 3 team goals aligned to your organisational strategy
Compare 2 different models to support planning and monitoring projects and resources
Explain the importance of effective performance management
Day Three:
Identify desired behavioural traits of an effective leader
Explain the importance of respect for equality and diversity in leadership
Discuss core factors affecting motivation and your role as a leader in creating a culture
Assess the impact of moving from a peer to a leadership role
Identify how your own resilience could be challenged in a leadership role and what you could do to support yourself
